Diesel generator set usage guide: Starting from scratch, master the operation skills!

Published on: 2026-03-18

Environmental assessment and unit placement

Site selection requirements: The unit should be placed in a dry, flat, sheltered, and dust-proof area, away from flammable materials, ensuring good ventilation at the exhaust outlet and not facing the personnel gathering area. When installing indoors, it is necessary to configure smoke exhaust and ventilation systems to prevent the accumulation of exhaust gases.

Safe distance: Reserve at least 1 meter of operating space around the unit for daily maintenance and emergency repairs.

Fuel and lubrication system inspection

Fuel selection: Use light diesel fuel that meets local standards to avoid impurities or moisture. The fuel tank needs to be clean and free of pollution, and the oil circuit should be leak free.

Oil filling: Select the type of oil according to the power of the unit (such as 15W/CD-40 for units below 120KW and 15W/CF-40 for units above 150KW), and the oil level should reach the static full position. Regularly check the viscosity and color of the engine oil, and replace it immediately if it deteriorates.

Preparation of cooling system and electrical system

Coolant configuration: The water tank needs to be filled with clean soft water or antifreeze (antifreeze must be used in winter to prevent freezing and cracking). Check if the radiator is clean and if the water pump and fan are running properly.

Battery inspection: Ensure that the battery is fully charged and the wiring is securely fastened without corrosion. The negative pole of the battery needs to be disconnected after shutdown to avoid depletion of power.

Comprehensive inspection before startup

Check if the fuel, oil, and coolant levels are normal, if the air filter is clean, and if the exhaust system is unobstructed.

Listen: Is there any abnormal noise from the engine and is the vibration uniform.

Touch: Check if the body and connecting parts are abnormally warm.

Q: Confirm that the load circuit is clearly divided and the circuit breaker protection is intact to avoid accidental contact with other equipment during startup.
